Description of the balneoclimateric region of Slanic Moldova

The balneoclimateric region of Slanic Moldova, it is a touristic zone in development, being part of the national strategic plan for tourism promotion.

The type of balneo-therapeutical tourism in the region it is prophylactic, curative and recovery based on the following natural resources:

1. Therapeutical mineral waters

The balnearic background it is declared unique in Europe from the point of view of diversity, composition, concentration, complexity and the therapeutical effects of the deposits. It is considered better than the international balnearic stations suchs as Karlovy, Vichy, Monteacini, Baden-Baden and even for the most known one, Maranske Lazne(ex Marienbad) from Czechoslovakia..

1. Curative bioclimate.

The studies determined exceptional levels regarding the composition, density, humidity, ionization and aerosol from the athmosphere. Furthermore, these characteristics determine a capacity of restraining and conservating in the air the volatile essences of therapeutical plants in the area. This way, the studies proved the curative effects demonstrated by the longetivity of the people living in this region.

3. Saltworks microclimate (Tg.Ocna Saltworks)
4. Brine;
5. Mineral salted lakes;

This region it is known for its therapeutical effects for a very long time. The first official record it is known to be in 1801, and in 1824 it is the year that this area gets royal privilege. In 1974 will be known as an international therapeutical station.

The tradition of the therapeutical tourism in the region had developed other forms of tourism such as: sports tourism(skiing, ski slopes, hunting parties, hiking, cycling, fishing etc.), cultural tourism and agro-tourism, entertainment centers(The Slanic Casino build in 1894 being part of the national heritage, clubs, bars, restaurants etc.).
